Grand Canyon Caverns AZ

Post by leland »

Located on old Route 66 between Seligman and Kingman. http://gccaverns.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The cactus were located on the hiking trail between the caverns and the motel. In late April the claret cups were just beginning to bloom.

Nice! I haven't been able to determine definitely if the claret cups along there are mojavensis or coccineus. They are great mounds, however. It's a cool area. Did you see any Agave utahensis up there?

I only get to AZ about 3 weeks a year and am not up on the local species enough to get into detailed descriptions so I just content myself with photographing what I see. In the long run I may do a study of the cactus of Mt. Nutt wilderness, but it seems to have just the common species of the region.
