What's the difference between the Grusonia robertsii and the invicta. I go down all the time to Baja and always see these cactus around San Quintin area.

Hello Art- Grusonia invicta doesn't kick in on the peninsula until near Bahía de Los Angeles, so you might be confusing it with Echinocereus maritimus, which does bear a strong resemblance in some ways.

Grusonia robertsii has longer stem segments, different spine arrangement, different tubercles and above all, a very unusual fruit for the Grusonia. The fruit is conical and has very few spines and much more resembles a Cylindropuntia fruit.
