Leptocereus paniculatus

Post by Pandorica »

Does anyone have any experience with or knowledge of Leptocereus paniculatus (aka Cereus paniculatus, Neoabbottia paniculatus) particularly any cultural notes and traditional uses. All i've found thus far is a single paragraph that gets repeated across the internet stating that Leptocereus fruit were/are consumed but thats about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, information on large tree-like cacti is very scarce in general. The most comprehensive resource being Yetman's "The Great Cacti" - http://www.exoticplantbooks.com/detail/?product_id=111" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However, he pretty well ignores the Caribbean species and elsewhere, information is really hard to come by.

Unfortunately the only mention Leptocereus gets in The Great Cacti is on page 225 where it says that Armatocereus & Leptocereus are more or less direct descendants of primordial cacti, presumably Pereskia or something similar.

Yes, I meant to say that IF there was going to be a place to find info on it, Yetman's book would be the source, but unfortunately, he didn't think Leptocereus was that great it seems.
