In a grocery store near my house, you can buy fresh Opuntia pads (I don't know what they're called - leaves, pads, segments, I don't care). What the HECK could anyone possible do with a fresh cactus segment?!
Don't underestimate the Dancing Boomerang Clam.
Re: Human Cactus Eater!
The proper term is "cladode". Fresh segments are cut and put into various dishes. You can use them like you would a bell pepper.
All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti

Re: Human Cactus Eater!
Are you talking about the Red Fruit like bulbs? Do they need to be peeled like an Orange or just washed and eaten?
Thats my question if thats not what your talking about.

I would make sure they dont have any glochids in them before I eat them that's for darn sure. O. engelmannii and O. phaeancantha have glochids.. (you can easily burn them off with a gas torch, or burner on your stove for if you use a charcoal grill you can also build a fire and burn them off on a grill.
