Prickly Pear Soda

Post by DannabisAx »

My ladyfriend brought me back a bottle of organic prickly pear italian soda from a visit to San Antonio, Texas.

The product is labeled Central Market H-E-B Organics, Italian Soda Prickly Pear
It came in a 33.8 fl oz plastic bottle and it was made in Italy.

Ingredients: Carbonated water, organic sugar, organic prickly pear puree from concentrate, citric acid, natural prickly pear flavor, and black carrot juice.

It has 70 calories in an 8oz serving, and 30mg of sodium.

To my taste buds, it seems slightly tart and a little sweet with a neat subtle flavor.

HOW COOL! There is a Central Market a few minutes away from me. I go there quite often. I never thought to check for anything like that. I'll have to get one next time.

They also sell opuntia pads and tuna (fruits) and aloe "leaves", and sometimes dragonfruit, along with a million things that I have never heard of. It's an awsome store!

yeah that's what I figured. The place that sells stuff like that I think it called Trader Joe's or something else. hahaha

And btw don't get the Cactus Cooler in the plastic bottles from Walmart. I read it carefully and it's Orange and Pineapple flavored and has not an ounce of cactus anything in it!

cactus are catching on as colouring agents. i dont think they are ever used as taste, be too expensive adding that much to be able to taste it. i read they are using the red dragon fruit in drinks as well, such as snapple.

That sound really good! I picked 5 gallons of fruit this morning and will be making jelly. I'll put that in a seperate post so as not to derail yours.

If you can, post a pic of the can/bottle of your soda.

Daiv I will. I have to call the lady this weekend to see what time is good to do it and maybe pick some more fruits. The glochids on them are a royal pain tho! I got more in me from picking the fruits then planting any cacti.
