Is that OK or is it a mistake? It says the flower of Parodia ocampoi is yellow. All pics are with red flowers.

Right or wrong?
Re: Right or wrong?
This is a puzzling one. In both Anderson's "The Cactus Family" and "The New Cactus Lexicon" the flowers are listed as Yellow. However, I checked in "Cacti The Illustrated Dictionary" and there is a note that P. compressa - one of the synonyms is "merely a red-flowered slightly spinier form".
So my guess is that the two plants pictured are P. compressa = P. ocampoi and I need to add "Red" as a flower color.
However, I wouldn't mind further input from others on this....

All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti
Re: Right or wrong?
So if I understand this right. That would in fact be Parodia ocampoi var. compressa, that normaly or at least often flowers red? Or do I jumping for conclusion?
Re: Right or wrong?
I don't know yet. Is "var. compressa" a valid name? I think it is only listed as P. ocampoi and the compressa part is dropped.

Re: Right or wrong?
Aha. How could I check this? I have one with that name writen on. Several internet sites has that name writen too. I'm lost a bit.
Re: Right or wrong?
Me too. Will have to do some more looking into it. Start with the International Plant Names Index.

Re: Right or wrong?
to look at this properly you first need to understand that p. ocampoi like a lot of parodias is a lumped species, it includes: copavilquensis, compressa, punae and zecheri
I have seen pictures of p. ocampoi s.s. with yellow flower, p. compressa with red and p. punae with orange flower.
if we follow current nomenclature the conclusion should be that p. ocampoi has flowers ranging from yellow to orange to carmin and bright red.
