Site Down, or Revenge of the Nerds?

Post by Harriet »

Daiv is off planting the trees that were delivered today. Before he left he asked me to tell you all what has been (not so) up with the site. Apparently the old host did not take kindly to the new host for the site and has made the transition from one to the other quite miserable for Daiv and all of the rest of us. We appear to be up and running again and should not have this kind of downtime again. Except for profound apologies for the inconvenience, I don't think anything else needs to be said about that!

Now go back to posting good stuff!!!

Thanks for covering Harriet, I seem to be one of the last to be able to access the site.

Anyway, just to clarify, it isn't the host (as in Cactus-mall), but it was the registrar. I should have transferred a long time ago and this would not have happened.

I have no issues on two of my three laptops. Won't know until Monday on the third, but should be fine.

You can do a "flush dns" command. On windows it is the "start" button, then type "cmd" in the search. On the command line type "ipconfig /flushdns" (without the quotations). Then do a "ctrl+F5" of your browser and you should be set.

Not sure if it is an apple product.

it was giving me that until around 3pm when I finally got back home. The past 3 days or whatever it was giving me the weird redirect. I was worried I got hacked, then I was worried the site was closed down or bought by some loser who just wanted to make us pay for something. etc... but I finally figured maybe the domain was having a problem.. sure enough.. :)

Thanks to Daiv for getting it back up and running as fast as possible no matter what the problem was. :)

naw, I figured it was a domain registration issue when I got off the white page of nothing on Chrome and used Firefox instead and it redirected me to a down page.. That technically is what that page was.. Although it was annoying and gave me 12 different popups any time I tried to connect. :)
