just a vague suggestion

Hi Alber khan:

I am just a user here, not a CactiGuide admin, but I wonder, did you recently increase the security settings of your browser? If the auto-login feature of CactiGuide is mediated through cookies, perhaps it would be blocked by a high enough security setting.

Almost certainly cookies. Either blocked or corrupt. If other sites show the same symptoms you might want to wipe your cookies and start again. Otherwise navigate to the cactiguide cookies and just delete those. Then login again and make sure the box is ticked.

Details of how to do all this vary between browsers. For Firefox this is a handy tool for managing cookies without having to dig through the options dialogs.

there are a few things here:
1-block or allow third-party cookies
2-delete cookies or temporary files
3-enable or disable session cookies
4-change temporary internet file settings
Which one should i choose????

Hi, sorry for my absence lately - I'm almost freed from my winter preparations!

Anyway, this phenomenon happens with I.E. once in a while. Never could figure out why it does it, but the fix is simple enough that it doesn't matter.

Go into "Tools" -> "Internet Options" then find the section with "Delete Files" or "Browsing History". (called different things in different versions of I.E.)

Anyway, just delete your cookies, temp internet files, and clear your history. Close I.E. and restart. You will log in one more time and after that you should be good for a long time again.

It isn't a bad idea to clear these files on a regular basis anyway.

should have thought to suggest that

I should have thought to suggest that.

Clearing cookies, clearing cache... I've worked on a web application team and this is always something to try when a web application starts acting strangely for you.

Seems to only be an issue with I.E. too.

I am sorry to hear the trouble. The only solution I know is to clear the temp files, cookies, etc. Then restart the browser (maybe restart the computer too - sure wouldn't hurt.)

The other forums you are on probably are not using this old version PHPBB. It was a widespread problem with this version. I am determined to update the forum version here eventually. It is just one of those things that are going to require some heavy concentration to do.

I thank you. I have that problem on my job computer only. My home one works without problems. So I will just log on more times and that is that.
