Welcome Craig Fry!
Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
Finally, some new flowers worth posting
there was so much other succulent action going on during the winter, the cactus get a little neglected
The first to put on a great show were my Echinopsis Hybrids "Mt. Girl"
I grew a large seed batch about 13 years ago, and many were sold, and many seedlings were sowed.
Hence, we have what's called a "Line" of hybrids, called "Mt. Girl"
Here is one of the originals

Absolutely great plants and flowers!
Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize that we cannot eat money.

Ooh, pretty . I must have an A. hintonii now!
Buying a cactus a day will keep the madness away.
Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
Wow, great show! Especially the sulcorebutias
With apologies to the late Professor C. D. Darlington the following misquotation springs to
mind ‘cactus taxonomy is the pursuit of the impossible by the incompetent’ - Fearn & Pearcy, Rebutia (1981)

Nice Astrophytum caput-medusae action this week
I sowed all my previous seed batches, but hope to have more for next Spring.
I tried some crazy crosses with the A. caput-medusa 2 months ago with the only other plants flowering at the time; A. coahuilense and A. Onzuka, and lo and behold... I got seeds !!!
I planted them last week, nothing happened yet, but I will keep you posted on what develops.
I'm baby sitting Gary James' plant for the Summer, and it's flowering too !!
This is one way to cross pollenate, make em kiss...
I also save pollen in the freezer, for the next flower batch.
