Welcome Craig Fry!
Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
Wow great looking plants. Really like those Ario's! The Yavia seem to grow crazy when grafted, but I'm sure you get plenty of seed for sowing.

Echinopsis,
Those Yavia seedlings are just spectacular, do you have any secrets to grow them?
No one else I know has achieved such success..

The little seedlings in the G. vatteri pot are Tubinicarpus viereckii

Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
I just remembered this- Have you tried to graft your Yavia on Opuntia humifusa? I hear some species retain/are closer to their natural shape when you do so.
Spectacular plants, by the way! Love the retusus v. pectinatus!

Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
I get so wrapped up in my winter growing succulents that I neglect the Cacti
The buds are building on some of the Winter blooming Cactus like the Mamms and Turbs, so I hope to catch some more color soon
Here is the only one for now
Mammallaria laui subducta It's time for a repot, it's been in that pot for a least 6 years

Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
the mini-sized flowers are so lovely!!!
Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
Well it's sad that some growers don't have any flowers this time of year.
I have too many plants in flowers to count, I took a bunch of photos of them but realized that most of them were just too common to bother with,
oh the horrors of having to live such a great geographical location that provides the growing conditions that almost every succulent loves.
But of course I will never be able to recreate the heat of places like Tucson, we just have to grow different plants that thrive in our environment.
Flowers coming any minute now

Stunning, the cintia knizie look great.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind

Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
I have 5 Cinteas in my collection, and 2 others floating around
and they all look kind of crappy, mostly dehydrated, I guess my soil is a little too lean for them
They rarely flower the same day as one of the other plants, since they throw off a flower at random over the winter
I should freeze some pollen now, otherwise I will not get any seeds this year.

Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
You might want to pot a couple in the same pot, its proven a lot of plants communication chemically via root/fungi networks it might stimulate them to flower in sync a bit more.

Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
Good idea Ade
They have huge tuberous roots, it would be easy to pack them into a deep pot, and save room on the bench.

Re: Welcome Craig Fry!
Of course all Cacti lovers know what also blooms this time of year!
Turbincarpuseses!!!
T. andersonii Turbinicarpus bonatzii
Turbinicarpus hoferi
I need to check my tags and make sure that they have only one "f" in hoferi, it's not hofferi like some say.
It's for sure one of my Favorite Turbis T. monbergii x The monbergii clan
