Re: Hana's cacti
Good evening Frank,
very nice plants!
May I ask; What do you do with 105 Obregonia?
Do you select plants in old age? The rest is disposed of?
Or do you have, as I hope, plantfriends as customers?
Many questions, Pardon!
Best wishes

G'morning K.W.
I will keep all Obregonia seedlings until next repotting.
I select seedlings at each occasion of repotting.
Seedlings in 5 cm tubes have selected twice.
The rest is returned to soil.

Thanks for the explanation Frank!
In our small greenhouses in Europe, unfortunately, we have no place for many large seedlings.
So we keep only 3 or 5 when it goes in 5 cm pots. . .
Best wishes

Re: Hana's cacti
Yes my backyard is not huge but it also is not small.
It is an average of old property in here.
I made 2 vege-patches, 2 m x 4 m each in front of the greenhouse.
It was hard to grow veges because summer was too hot.
Cacti was planted in one of them.
I took the photo yesterday.
Cacti try to defeat weeds but it seems not to be easy.

Re: Hana's cacti
Good evening Frank,
will the weeds not dry up in the summer?
I also have a lot of weeds in the pots. Among the large plants standing at the outdoor-dining.
But at the end of the summer most of the weeds are dried up again.
I wish I could leave my cacti at the outdoor-dining all year long. . .
Best wishes

Yes they, winter weeds should dry up now.
It is not hot enough in this year by unknown reason.

I have 9 flowering size of Geohintonia mexicanas.
2 of them pushed flowering buds up but failed to open.

Godzilla in my greenhouse in this morning!
This one actually called "Blue tongue", just 40 cm length.
2 blue tongues appear in my greenhouse on hot days in summer.
They eat insects and snails.

Re: Hana's cacti
Very nice cacti, I really want to try growing geohintonias! I like the blue tongue, they are pretty cool skinks! I hadn't realized until just now that they were native to Australia.
Re: Hana's cacti
I love blue tongue skinks. Apparently, they're one of the few reptiles that can develop a relationship with humans. You could try leaving out a dish of fruit and veggies for them, apparently that makes up for a good part of their diet.
I love your cacti, but I really envy you for having such beautiful creatures visit your greenhouse.
