kuni

I think 90F is a very nice temperature.
It will reach 45 C' during Christmas time in here and so I need additional shade cloth to protect cacti.

Hanazono

3 cacti with reddish flowers were in flower today.

Seedlings of Echinocactus horizontharonius have started to grow.
Seeds were sown in 2014.
They are in 5 cm square tubes.

Shame. I hear mytillocactus fruit tasted like sour blueberries or something. very popular in its native habitat.
Also, dragon fruit is overrated.

G'morning K.W.

Thanks for your comment.
It has been hot. The maximum temperature of today will be 33 'C.

stefan

Fruits of myrtillocactus are not sour, sweeter than blueberries.
Since I do not get any health related information, I do not eat them.

The flowers of my A. asterias, when it bloomed, were strictly yellow. This red down at the base of the interior of this cactus is just astounding. And then right after that is the one with the streaks. What beautiful flowers! Thank you ever so much for posting these pictures. It is a REAL joy to look at them.

G'morning WayneByerly,

Thanks for your comment.
The flower of standard asterias is yellow petals with orange throat.
Strictly yellow is not normal.
I am not sure but it may be mixed the gene of other astrophytum.

The flower with streaks one is mixed the gene of red flowering asterias.
