richr's 2016 thread
We are supposed to be having an El Nino winter right now but most of the storms have gone north of us. I suppose as far as my outside cacti go, it's good to stay dry right now anyway. We have been having mild temps too, and some of my early bloomers are already blooming. Surprisingly, none of my Echinofossulos are budding yet. Here are are a few of the early birds.

- These Epithelantha micromeris probably belong in the Grown from Seed section, but here they are anyway. These guys are 3 months old.

The warm winter continues and blooms are popping up every day. The Ferocactus glaucescens and T. bicolor have buds two months earlier than usual. Anyone else having earlier than usual blooms?

Great flowers! That Mammillaria lasiacantha is especially pretty, does it have a field number by any chance?
Buying a cactus a day will keep the madness away.

Lovely display, Rich!
Epithelantha micromeris, Stenocactus lloydii, and Strombocactus disciformis. Aside from some rain on the 17th and 18th, February in SoCal has been drier and hotter than normal for the month. I've even seen touches of new growth here and there, although my 15-day forecast is showing a week of rain beginning Saturday night, so the temps may come down enough to delay the start of my growing season. Won't be long, though!RichR wrote:Anyone else having earlier than usual blooms?

Robb, No. I got it at the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute's plant sale. Didn't come with a number.Robb wrote:Great flowers! That Mammillaria lasiacantha is especially pretty, does it have a field number by any chance?
