Yes, Wislizeni is pictured and I have a few others types but with a lot less flowers. The crested is Echinopsis pachanoi.george76904 wrote:Wow!!! Those are gorgeous! Is that ferro. Wislizeni?

I agree with the previous statements: Your Ferocactus wislizenii is beautiful and so is the crested Echinopsis pachanoi. Does the latter plant flower normally? Those blossoms are supposed to be very large and fragrant.
I only have two Ferocacti left, after my F. latispinus "bit the dust" last year. I do like F. pilosus, because of its beautiful spines.
Unfortunately, most of these plants do grow rather large, which limits their use in my plantings.

Re: Ferocactus season
This year my F. pilosus had a nice show of flowers, but my other plant is just putting on new growth, so no seeds this year. My Echinopsis pachanoi crested has never flowered, at least twenty years old, however my normal E. pachonoi has had as many as 100 flowers at one time and they are fragrant. Last year the plant got so big and was leaning south, it fell over. Cut it back, reset it, and now lot of new growth. Many years before I see though flowers. Temps: I live in the Central Valley at the edge of the orange tree belt and so the weather does drop to the mid 20's. My biggest Fero lost the growth tip two years ago, I'm guessing water accumulated in the depression of the growth tip and froze. Now it is sending out pups, growth tip is brown and not coming back, so it will never be a show plant but in nature it would just be normal.
