Stenocereus marginatus -- "Mexican fence post"
Habitat: Mexico.
This a very popular and common landscape cactus in the Tucson area -- hardy to 20°F (approx. -7°C) here and can tolerate even lower temperatures in favorable locations.
The following photos were taken at Bach's cactus nursery here in Tucson.
It can grow up to 20 ft.+ (6 meters+) tall if planted in good soil and given plenty of water in the hot summer months. It starts to bud during December here in Tucson and flowers in late winter or early spring.
20 ft.+ (6 meter+) tall, branched, mature specimen
15 ft.(4.5 meter) tall, branched, mature specimen
