Wow! Those are absolutely gorgeous! Really interesting flower that seems so different from the other Micranthocereus flowers I'm familiar with!
Thanks for posting! Such a heavily hairy cephalium too.
Very cool!

Hi Tristan.
Check color plates 153.2 and 153.4 in The New Cactus Lexicon 2013 (Hunt) and 50.3 in CEB (Taylor & Zappi) - the latter pic is of a very beautiful blue stemmed form I used to grow as Austrocephalocereus lehmannianus (Backeberg) - like the bottom two pics I posted above.

Yeah - those are some great shots of gorgeous plants! Is this a plant you lost to the freeze a few years back? Where were you able to find that species?
Re: Micranthocereus purpureus
I lost all six mature plants plus a flat of seedlings in "the great freeze". I will check with Dan to see if he has any seeds left from the batch I gave him. I got the original seeds from Marlon Machado many years ago.Minime8484 wrote:.......... Is this a plant you lost to the freeze a few years back? Where were you able to find that species?
