Re: Greenhouse Happenings
The colour is an impossible red, the camera cant handle it whatever you do to the exposure. maybe it needs a filter or something.

Re: Greenhouse Happenings
Pretty sure this is G. Baldianum.
Very beautiful, opens in the afternoon. Collectors will probably dissagree but many gymno's have greenish white flowers and are just not that interesting. But choose carefully and you can get some of the best displays in the cactus family.

Re: Greenhouse Happenings
Lithops "Rose of Texas" is the only red flowered lithops. It is a cultivar. Natural species have either white or yellow flowers.

Re: Greenhouse Happenings
This though is the cultivar " Fireworth". It has really iridescant petal backs which is hard to copy on camera.

Re: Greenhouse Happenings
I believe I have the same cultivar. http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/viewtop ... um#p299448" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The iridescence is very striking when the sunlight hits it, but as you say it is hard to capture with the camera.

Hi Bigfruit,
I love the way you arranged the plants around the rocks (or vice versa). Especially with the fenestraria and conophytum above. I might just copy it for a few of my plants, if you don't mind. Thanks for the inspiration.
