I do like all those nice Texas Rainbow cacti (Echinocereus dasyacanthus). I do enjoy my plants a lot too. Also, what kind of chollas do you have there? One seems to be Cylindropuntia imbricata, what is the other one called?

Hey Harald I believe the other cylindropuntia is a cylindropuntia kleiniae.

Hey Mark,

Regarding your weird, rotated images. I'm guessing you took them on an iPhone, right? I've found images come up sideways, sometimes, when you try to upload them them. I fix this by rotating the image and recropping slightly. Experiment, and you'll probably find they upload properly when you do that.

Does it mean that you dont have to do the hand pollination/cross?
From what I can see they were grown on ground....I like it
I cant do that in Indonesia as when rainy season comes there will be many victims
Some Opuntias and Cereus could handle it but dont know with others.....Im just too affraid to do that

Thanks BarryRice! I'll try that. It's weird though because when I upload the pics to my laptop the pictures are the right orientation. I will try experimenting.


Hendry-No the bee's took care of all the pollination.. hopefully. I hope the birds don't knock off the buds though . I have most of the natives and the hardier plants in the ground. Hardly and succulents besides agaves.

A single ocotillo bloom!
Does anyone know how ocotillo seed looks?? There was a bigger flowering section and it had seed pods with a white fluffy sort of thing. I saved it just encase it was a seed.

Yes, the white "flakes" are the Ocotillo seeds.

Some more pics! We have had some good rains these past weeks! The plants seems to really enjoy it! They have finally fattened up. This small Ocotillo also leafed out. I wasn't even sure if it was still alive.




All three of these are blooming today! I love their fragrance.

Are all these plants in your back yard ?

If so I am right fuming with envy.

Those Echinocereus and the E. Texensis are looking great. More people in Texas should be growing cacti in their back yard. It's good for keeping Cactus for generations to come. Not to mention the wildlife associated with them. Looks so natural =^-^=
