What a fantastic display! I just obtained my first Peniocereus serpentinus this past year, so am looking forward to a show like yours some day!

What is the Cleisto in the 10th pic that looks like it is being propped up with a stick and a rock?
(This was back on page one of this topic)
That unknown cleisto has decided to flower!!
Not the original plant but the bit that fell off.
Not fully open yet I'll put another picture when it does.
I hope this helps to give it an ID.
Cheers Larry
PS I have been adding to my "My Plants" page with new photos from 2012 flowering season at
http://home.exetel.com.au/clotu/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Will know better when the flowers progress and open, but I'm leaning towards Cleistocactus morawetzianus right now...
Looking forward to more photos!
And, congrats!

The flower on the unknown cleisto opened this far then closed and shriveled up.
As far as they usually open?? Maybe the heat affected it.
It has been really hot and dry here. 40c+ for a few days. 39c+ again tomorrow.
Cheers

Re: Lazz 2012
That's about it for some species of Cleistocactus! The darker purple tips usually indicate it was a bit more open at the tip, but has since closed up/dried out at the tips, but that's probably pretty much it!
It looks to me like a pretty good Cleistocactus morawetzianus, though I've never seen their blooms in real life; however, they do fit for what I've been able to determine.
The flower also seems similar to Cleistocactus parapetiensis, but the spination for that species is usually shorter/denser, and the flower is less hairy than yours.
My bet is still on the former.
I'd be interested in hearing what others think.
Nonetheless, it is a gorgeous plant.
And congrats on finally getting it to flower!

Thanks for the comments,
It should have quite a few in a week or two.
I'll post some pics then.
My Parodia (Notocactus) Leninghausii plants have been flowering and have set and spread heaps of seed. Also nice flower on one of my Gymnocalycium Horstii Cheers

Echinopsis pachanoi bloomed again when the moon was full.
Not as many as in other years but they were big ones.

Re: Lazz 2012
Mine is in a pot about 60cm wide and 40cm tall, the plant itself is maybe 2m tall with 3 stems, and has been flowering since it was about 1.2m tall. I got it about 7 years ago when it was 50cm tall. Need to unpot that guy and put him in the ground somewhere before it weighs half a ton...
