Image a rescued C. acanthacarpa .. with it's first bloom. I found it in the road after a storm. Picked it up, planted it roots and all and it rewarded me with a flower and it's got four more buds to go :)

Great stuff! I think the orange flowered one is engelmannii and the Stenocactus is vaupelianus.

thanks all.

PeterB thanks for the ID help. I went with the label that came on the plant and forgot to check the Stenocactus. lolz
The orange flowered one is an O. engelmannii now that I look at it closer. Spines .. :)

I will take more pictures as they all bloom and grow. And yes I will take some more hikes :)

FYI on the Hatiora gaertneri the camera does NOT do the red colored flower justice. It is an intense red. :)

Sweet!
The first Echinocereus looks like E. boyce-thompsonii.
The Mamm looks like M. melanocentra rubrograndis.

thanks guys. I can get bad with names sometimes.

Darryl thanks. I think you are right on both. I remembered that my Echinocereus were likely not E. engelmannii but I forgot which one . I got the Mamm at DBG. lost the tag.

Ian thanks. It's sorta dry so my yard is messy minus where my cacti in ground are planted.

And it's off to an impressive Spring spectacle in Arizona! You sure have great success with those "strays" that seem to follow you home, Peter!

well, in AZ most people hate cactus. In fact I could probably start a business removing cacti for people. I have gotten several pads out of the middle of the street. I have found cacti that fell off of cliffs, or someone found some and heard I liked cacti and gave them to be given to me because they didnt want them.
and Thanks :)
