Trial and Error in Florida 2012
Re: Trial and Error in Florida 2012
Your outdoor bed is looking great Harriet - I like the arrangement of rocks and the dry stream bed - it really works and will just get better as the plants fill out.
All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti

Thanks Daiv, the dry stream bed functions as a drain for that bed, so as far as I am concerned it works in more ways than one!

Thank you!
Even with a missing petal, the E. oxygona is one of my favorites.

Nice little show coming on the humifusa!

I sure hope some of those buds are flowers! If they are all new pads, that plant will soon take over my yard.

Most of those are flowers, guaranteed

I went out earlier today to inspect the buds. Many are looking pretty flowery, but there are quite a few pads too. I am definitely NOT unhappy with that plant!

"Back in the day" in this area of Florida, you never used to see the range of "Southwestern" type plants that are sold now. It delights me to see Cacti, Succulents and Agaves more frequently. So when I do, I reward the smart nurserymen by buying new stuff every chance I get. Today it was a pot of sedum, and an Agave. I'm not sure of the Agave, it was not labeled, but I suspect it is the hybrid called "Sharkskin" as it has really cool sandpapery leaves. I got a small one as the really beautiful big one was outrageously expensive... Can anyone ID it for me?
The sedum was a surprise. I got it because it looked so good in its hanging basket! Don't know which one it is, but if it will continue to look good I'll continue to enjoy it!

Your agave looks like A. weberi to me. Definitely not sharkskin.
