bruno' s terrace 2012
Re: bruno' s terrace 2012
Dear Arjen, should I have a spare cuttings someday, I shall send one to you:D
I would love to pay postage myself but see this little thing growing to that reach. I feel it is however rather difficult for me.
I just killed a graft, how many chances do you see for this to survive? That' s perhaps why it is so rare....
ciao

Hey Bruno. It snowed for a few minutes today in Arizona. Your plants look great. Maybe I shouldn't be such a wuss and put my plants outside in the winter time. Your plants look great
Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.
Re: bruno' s terrace 2012
you killed a graft? what was it grafted on? or did you mean a cutting? it does have the reputation of being difficult, we'll see...
no matter the outcome, I think it's very kind of you to agree to send it if you have it, the postage will be taken care of, no problem! mille grazie!

Hi Peter, thank you for your reply
Hi Arjen, it was grafted on a thrico stock, it definitely needed a professional cactus killer to pass by....

A few pics from the last weekend, all my favourite mams (lasiacanthae) are in flower
Last what I believe is an hybrid of lasiacantha, look at the flower, it shows two rows of tepals, that' s strange isn' t it?
ciao bruno

Beautiful Bruno!
The spination of the last is quite similar to M. duwei.
Could be a hybrid of them.

Re: bruno' s terrace 2012
Really beautiful plants of species I personally don't see often (or ever!)!
Re: bruno' s terrace 2012
Thank you guys
@Ralf, I am not growing M. duwei, the only mam with similar pubescent spines close by is M. pennispinosa or M. aureilanata by the way here it is in full flower today A few other pics, scleros, lots of new spines, few flowers Pedios are a little bit less shy but again, new spine and less flowers than expected Last, a few Echinomastus in flower ciao

Beautiful show, Bruno! All look great!
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

Re: bruno' s terrace 2012
However hybrid or not it looks beautiful. At any rate you create a new species. Who knows maybe everyone wants to own one of it in a few years.
Great shots as always, Bruno. It seems that the snow wasn't dangerous for your plants.

gotta love that chocolate brown flower of that first echinomastus.
Re: bruno' s terrace 2012
What a lovely show. You must be really pleased after all the snow. Mine haven't started yet, but they are starting to bud. Can't expect miracles yet at this height. Spring has definitely sprung though so should have some flowers in the not too distant future.
