Been out of town on vacation for while, but was pleasantly surprised to return home to some bloomers...even in the 110+ degree heat.
Here are a few from the last day or so.

Arrojadoa penicillata
I find it rather strange that flowers are nocturnal, but they only seem to open fully at night. Since then, I've found references in the literature that they are indeed nocturnal bloomers. Love learning something new - and surprising!

Fouquieria burragei - continuous blooms on this plant since April; easily my most prolific blooming Fouquieria, even in this heat. Must be upwards of 10 inflorescences of varying ages right now and all are almost pure white, unlike in the spring when there was much more significant pink suffusion on the petals and rachi.

Finally have a chance to post a couple of flowers opening up in the past week.

This Mammillaria lenta went crazy once the monsoons started. Bloomed earlier in the season, but just one flower at a time.

And, this is the first time this Echinocereus brandegeei has bloomed for me.

Who would think that. If that flower was yellow I would of bet it is a Grusonia clavata. Image

A couple more flowers opening for me today.

First blooms from my Thelocactus rinconensis ssp. nidulans; the yellowish tinge to the flower was a surprise - was expecting pure white.

Nice plants and flowers! The last one's flowers look pretty cute compared to the spines on the plant! :D

This plant bloomed in early spring, but has been trying to bloom throughout the summer; I think the heat kept the flowers from fully maturing, and they aborted before opening.
One finally made it to maturity today. Gotta love the Cleisto's!

This Gymno is on its third flower, but they only open up this far at most. Searched some images on the web, and looks to me that most seem to not open up as much as other species. One more bloom coming in now, so we will see if it gets further than this one.

Hi Minime8484. It's Nancy from DG! I love all your plants. I have many of the cacti you show, but most of mine are in pots. I would like to plant them in the ground. In general, how much sun do your smaller cacti get?

Edited to say: I just got through all your pictures of your collection and saw the bed you made for the cacti. Are most all of them in there? It seems partly shaded by trees. Are some cacti in full sun? Your plants are just wonderful, but I knew they would be!

Thanks all for the comments!

@Nancy - I try to plant my smaller plants in at least some filtered shade during the afternoons....sometimes they survive, sometimes they don't. It's a challenge to keep finding things that will live through our brutal summer sun.
My cacti are scattered all over the front & back yards...literally! Some are indeed in full sun. Some are not happy about it, but tolerate it just enough to reward me on occasion! :D
Some time you'll have to drop by and visit - as I'd like to visit your garden too!

Cheers,
Tristan

Thanks all!
Flowering slowing down this time of year, but some species are still kicking!
Here's a couple of new acquisitions that seem to be happy for now.

Another species of Arrojadoa - much larger & thicker than the others I have: Arrojadoa rhodantha ssp. aureispina:

Also, though not blooming and probably years from doing so, one of my favorite new acquisitions this past summer: Cleistocactus roezlii.
