Thanks Peter. That little sun ray thing over the door is the scraps left from cutting the roof pieces. I noticed them laying somwhat in that shape just by coincidence and that gave me the idea.

Well, I'm fine with anyone copying it if they want to. There isn't too much to the plans, but I'll answer any questions for those who want to build it like that.

I know you have limited time and there are many design plans on the web, but it would make for a nice addition to CactiGuide to have a greenhouse build plan article.

I could help with the addition of a propagator build plan article.

Just a thought.

great looking build Daiv

how are the temps up there by canada these days? i started off with a plastic covered greenhouse back in 1984 with around 60 plants (giving my age away now :roll:

)and a small paraffin heater that i had to run out and light if there was going to be a frost :lol:

looks like you did a great job building it

depending on how cold it is you might want to add another layer of plastic or bubble wrap to the inside for a while.

I have a thought. How much snow do you think that roof can carry? You do have snow way down south, don't you? Or is it just us hardy northerners that have to deal with inches of the stuff in April :shock:

Yes, I certainly thought about doing that. I'm really dissapointed that I didn't have my camera along this past Saturday.

Definitely need to get some more articles written, along with Genus descriptions, and adding more Big Picture Project pics.... you get the idea! Work has gotten pretty intense the last few days, but I'm hoping that it will ease up by the end of the week.

Hob, I considered the extra insulation. I have a propane heater that I might use to keep the edge off.

Ian, quite a bit I think. We got an inch last night and that was nothing. The largest span on the roof that is unsupported is 2x3 feet, so there is a lot of support underneath. One thing about this setup is that I can always replace the plastic sheeting with more plastic or even a stiff covering.

Bill- I'm afraid my collection has been wittled down quite a bit this winter. :idea:
