A Door!

Post by John C »

This may seem odd, but if you looked closely at my previous pics of my greenhouse it doesnt look like it has a door. Thats cause it didn't  Which makes for a problem when trying to get in and out holding some cactus with sharp spines :? Or when its raining and its all wet and muddy. :x

So now it has a door! :D

Day 1
Heres my greenhouse with the new door frame

Here is the frame while the cement was drying.

Here is the door

Day 2
It was raining all day on day 2 so I had to finish it in the rain.

Here is the door from the inside after it was finished

Image

Look! More space to put small pots! Perfect for the 3 pots of seedlings I have in the greenhouse.

And here is the finished product from the outside.

The new door makes things much easier!

Nice work John!

And you can prop the door open if you need ventilation.

Hopefully wind won't beat the plastic and knock the small pots off the new "shelf".

Finally, when I see those distance shots, I can't help but think that yard needs a 20'x30' greenhouse instead.

A 20'x30' greenhouse might be a stretch for now, but I can envision several little Hobbit-greenhouses growing up all in a row... (Or in a ring, and John can be Lord of the...)

Yes, it does great for ventilation. Whenever I rolled the plastic up before it just blew back down so this is perfect.

Well it was very windy today (It hailed too). I'd guess 35mph+ or so And the pots are still there. So I think it should be ok.

Yes it does need a bigger greenhouse  I'm almost out of space. Maybe next year.

Nice. Bet your plants like the bright winter sun.

Oh wow! Just re-read this post of mine from 4 years ago! A lot has changed in only a few years. I have even expanded the greenhouse since then! 8) Even through the 4 years, this door is still holding up really well!
