Help with cactus ID, please!

Post by umjd1973 »

I'm a Master Gardener, and answer a lot of plant ID questions.
Here's the link to see what the questioner submitted: https://ask.extension.org/uploads/quest ... 1516217217

This one has me stumped! Any help is appreciated!

Looks like a crested trichocereus . Not sure if T. Pachanoi or not. You have to takena photo of the normal stem in the back and the flower.
There are more cacti in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
One of the few cactus lovers in Lebanon (zone 11a)

Also one of the flower tube if possible. If it is naked with no hairs or bristles it is a Cereus, if hairy or bristly probably a Trichocereus (trichos = hair or bristles + Cereus). Cristates are often difficult to identify unless you get a stem reverting since the cristate growth can look unlike the species itself.
