Definitely an opuntia but they can be rather annoying to I’d at the best of times Flowers might help. It looks like it has too few glochids for engelmanni.
There is no cactus you can't eat, but you just might regret it if you eat the wrong one.

IMO it looks like textbook O. Dillenii
There are more cacti in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
One of the few cactus lovers in Lebanon (zone 11a) :mrgreen:

I agree - it looks like Opuntia stricta. It has many forms and is widespread.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.
