More like ferocactus if you ask me.

Re: Identification 15
The upward pointing spines, the glauscense and the spine color, and the spine shape point out to a lobivia.
Lobivia haematantha, or pentlandii or Lobivia maximiliana. Something among the lines of lobivia anyway.
(lobivia is a subgenus of echinopsis). Im not ruling gymnocalium out but theres also the possibility that its a really young "saguaro" type trichocereus.

Lobivia areoles are not circular and tuberculate like this one. They are continous and elliptical.

Ferocactus spines have ripples on them(like notches).
They are not smooth. In addition, theres always a central spine on those.http://l7.alamy.com/zooms/ceb7d0a276ca4 ... fjhkgt.jpg
Im certain that also applies for echinocactus, thelocactus, astrophytum ornatum, some sclerocactus and echinomastus too.
On lobivia you will see color changes but the spines are smooth by standards.
