Echinopsis who?

Post by Shmuel »

I have had this for many years and it finally bloomed. So it seems Echinopsis, but which one? Any thoughts?
Thanks

One of the lobivia species, now lumped with echinopsis, possibly L. backebergii v. larae, syn is Echinopsis pentlandii v. larae. But these are variable species and I could well be wrong.

Agreed on lobivia but pinpointing a species could be hard as these are highly variable and hybridized so much. L. Backerbergii seems to be a good fit.

With that coloured flower maybe one of the variable forms of L. chilensis or wrightiana?

Lobivia's are very variable in both spination and flower colour, which is why the same species has been given so many different names over the years.

Agree with Dave - Lobivia backebergii ssp wrightiana.

See:-

All sizes are merely a guide. Many of the smaller cacti grow larger in cultivation than in habitat.
