Gymnocalycium Sierra Famatima

Post by AnalogDog »

Yesterday, I acquired this plant from a long standing member of our club who was divesting himself of his collection due to his age. Unfortunatly, I did not see him to ask the meaning of the tag so here I am today. I assume the tag is the collected plant from near Famatima, Argentina. Short of that I don't know what it is.

Ideas?

This may be a Gymnocalyciun hossei, since Sierra Famatina is in La Rioja.

Found one possible entry:
Field number : STO 87-76
Collector : Helmut Amerhauser, Franz Strigl, Hans Till (either together, or separately)
Species : Gymnocalycium hossei v. roseiflorum
Locality : Famatina to Tinogasta, La Rioja, Argentina 1550m
Date : 10/06/09

I also saw similar entries for Gymnocalycium saglionis. Maybe I just stick with the field entry?

Maybe, this will not affect cultivation way. Seeing first flowers could make you more confident.
