I bought this cactus last year labeled Haageocereus sp. But I have doubts about the identification. May be a Haagespostoa? Neobinghamia? Cleistocactus icosagonus? Pilosocereus chrysostele? Anyone have any suggestions?

The seller sent me this, any ideas?
Re: Haageocereus?!?
Most Haageocereus are white flowered, including the type of Haageocereus pseudomelanostele. However Backeberg described a red flowered H. pseudomelanostele ssp. caminiflorus. Your seller obviously put the same picture on Pinterest as H. pseudomelanostele.

Of course there is always the possibility of it being a natural hybrid, since as you say Backeberg described a genus Neobinghamia which turned out to be a natural a cross between Haageocerus and Espostoa.

It is not Borzicactus icosagonus as the Borzicacti have zygomorphic (bent) flowers for hummingbird pollination. Hunt lumped Borzicactus in Cleistocactus, but in his "Cactaceae Systematics Initiatives" 36, May 2017 he reinstates Borzicactus once again. Quite a few of the New Cactus Lexicon lumping's are now being undone due to DNA Sequencing information, since the NCL was originally based on morphology.

The flowers on the one on the left look like an Oreocereus to me.Orion Drakkar wrote:The seller sent me this, any ideas?

Re: Haageocereus?!?
Weberbaurocereus could be another possibility, but the flower does not seem wooly enough?

The spination on Weberbaurocereus species is very variable.

Thanks DavW and Brontosaurus for the reply, There are many similar cacti and at the moment it is almost impossible to identify, so I will hope to bloom to be sure, thanks for the help!

Looks good for Haageocereus; that age many are very similar and tough to tell apart.
Red/pinkish flowers have popped up in various species in the genus.
