Hi alreadynights

The little guy in my profile picture is a "Myrtillocactus geometricans", something very common. The monumental Ferocactus, however is not common at all! It would easily get a job at Huntington or Kew-garden! The one behind it looks like Ferocactus glaucescens, but I'm no expert, only a fan. (probably no F. glaucescens, because the areols are not fused as they are supposed to at a plant of this Age and dimensions) I looked at your older posts and now I understand where all these impressive plants come from! So there are not only leaning towers in your beautiful city, but also worth seeing cacti and succulents! You have a very interesting job! Aren't there any specialists on-site to help you? Nevertheless I appreciate your posts and the free entrance to your collection!

Much success,

Tofterigen

It Is a glaucescens!
Unfortunately we have no cactus experts in our team, so I volunteered, started studying manuals and now we almost identified all of our collection!

Thanks for the appreciation and help! Come visit us if you happen to come to Italy!

Hello

I'm a fan but no expert of Ferocactus! (indeed, no expert of nothing) However, your specimen has more thick spines and more bristle-like spines in general and the areolas look different. I can't judge wether these differences are inter- or intra-species variations. However, I have found a pic in a german cactus-forum: "https://www.kakteenforum.com/t4499-fero ... r-herrerae" which shows a plant very similar to yours. But I don't want to be committed!

Has your plant ever flowered? Most times, flowers make the identification much easier!

Best whishes,

Tofterigen
