Re: Help with ID of this Mammillaria please
May be one of the Mammillaria laui forms? Check it against the descriptions when it flowers.

Re: Help with ID of this Mammillaria please
It had the remains of red or dark pink flowers when I bought it Dave. I've been trying to identify it based on spines & flowers. Looking at the link you provided it does look like M Laui subs dasyacantha. Thanks for the help
Re: Help with ID of this Mammillaria please
There seems to be quite a few of the M. laui ssp. dasyacantha's in the UK trade and Garden Centres at the moment Alan. Another case of the more commercial variety being propagated rather than the original M. laui itself, which has slightly stronger and slightly golden tinged spines. It is even hard to find a picture of Mammillaria laui ssp. laui (the type form) online now:-

Mammillaria laui ssp. subducta is golden/brown spined.

M. laui ssp. subducta grows at the lowest level, with the intermediate spined form M. laui ssp. laui (type) higher up and the fine white spined M. laui ssp. dasyacantha at the highest altitude.

Re: Help with ID of this Mammillaria please
Thanks again for the info Dave. This one definitely has white spines with pale yellow axils.
Re: Help with ID of this Mammillaria please
Just found this link to M. laui on the Mammillaria Society website Alan.
