austrocylindropuntia subulata monstrosa ? (two cacti)

Post by Snasal »

Hi

I have two cacti. With a lot of googling I found that they maybe both are austrocylindropuntia subulata monstrosa?

I'm really new at this identification thing, so I was wondering if I'm right? And why is it possible that they look so different? Is it because of different ages maybe? Or am I just so wrong? :)

The first one, I really think is a austrocylindropuntia subulata monstrosa:

But this second one, I'm really not sure of:

Already thanks for the effort!!

First looks correct - the second looks like an Euphorbia

In the first one the new joints are etiolating and need more light. They should be pretty well as thick as the stems below.

As Teo says the second is not a cactus but a Euphorbia, one of the Old World (usually African) "Other Succulents".

I've put the first one in a better spot, where it will get more light!
