Anyone know what the ID of this cactus might be?
The plant tag only says "Cactus", sooo helpful :roll:

Yes, probably a Melocactus - but also looks a bit like a small Echinopsis pasacana

Not convinced it would be Melocactus. Although it could be. I would put my money on it being a Trichocereus. Time (and the cephalium) might tell...

They're hard to identify when young, and I'm not even sure it is a Melocactus - Teo and Aiko are right, it could also be an Echinopsis/Trichocereus. In a few years you might be able to get a solid ID.

Maybe even a Soehrensia of the S. formosa type, but time will tell.
