Mamm matudae .. or not

Post by teo »

What is this? It looks like a Mammillaria matudae but with no central spines. Could it be that it has not yet grown them - it's 5 cm in size?

Possibly but it's from a common source (garden center, problably from a big dutch grower) and tlalocii seems to have a central spine (according to pictures - mammilarias.net seems to be down)

This is the Mammillaria matudae, bought unnamed, from garden centres and coming from this route, most likely originated via Holland, and my Mammillaria tlalocii from a specialist cactus grower in UK.

OK - it seems like tlalocii is a likely candidate for now.

My two M. tlalocii FO229 from Tony Irons a few years ago: so much for the importance of having a central spine or not...
