Post by BrandonH »

i got his plant in flower i believe it is a Gymnocalycium of some kind. It was at walmart and needs more light since it was in their dark greenhouse.

yes the poorly glued straw flowers are pretty standard practice here at walmart but this one came off pretty easy. However i am hoping the real flower will aid in the ID

Yeah looks like gymnocalycium damsii subs. rotundulum.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
I dont mind.
I DONT MIND

Also known as Gymnocalycium anisitsii ssp. damsii. Great little cactus, whatever you call it, long blooming season. Hope you can get that glued-on strawflower off without damage.

Needs bright light, but some shade from hot, afternoon sun - though they love heat.

Thanks for the 2nd name and the info! I was pretty surprised to see one flowering this late. Yes the flower came off pretty easy with little damage for once :)
Not very sunny here this week but more then hot so should be good weather for it atm.

Great to hear! I have one, and it blooms whenever it's warm enough. It always has flower buds, but they wait for warm weather to develop.

that is super cool this one opened for about 3 days then fell off probably from being moved from store to here. I also don't know how long the flower was one there at the store either
