2 small ones for ID

Post by nona »

I've never seen these before so had to buy.

Both spines and areoles on the first one are golden - not white.

The column has reddish spines and slightly woolly.

The second one looks like Pilosocereus gounellei, I have a few of these and they look very similar.

Thanks for the reply. I contacted the nursery that grew these and they believe the first is Haageocereus, and the second a Cereus Peruvianus adding it was a highly variable species. I have Cereus Peruvianus so that came as a surprise.

The first looks like Haageocereus acranthus , but the second one doesn't look like Cereus peruvianus - Pilosocereus gounellei looks right to me.

I'll keep the gounellei suggestion in mind as it grows. Thanks for pinning down the Haageocereus species.
