No problem - good question!
Depends on how hot the sun is. In very hot sun scalding can occur in a few minutes, but under glass the sun's intensity is reduced - don't put it right up against the glass in direct sun, though, reflection off the glass can intensify the heat. When the sun is lower it's less intense than it is closer to noon, the plant could stand it longer. Another approach is to use some kind of shading for a while - shade cloth, a sheer curtain, or even tissue paper.
I wish I could give you a precise answer, but there's a certain amount of guesswork and trial-and-error involved. The first symptom of sunburn is that the most most exposed areas begin to turn pale, such as the sunny side of ribs or tubercles; if you move it to the shade before it gets any worse than that it will recover without ill effects. Always keep the same side toward the sun, turning it increases the risk of sunburn.
