This is a piece from a plant growing in a pot outside a business in Brazil.

It looks like O. monacantha to me.

Thank you. I just looked at the monacantha photos on cactiguide, I see a close resemblance, some little doubt lingersin my mind that my plant, and the original parent plant from which it was taken, are both fairly diminuitive in growth, and the photos here show plants which are fairly robust in growth. That could just be the growing conditions. I see there is a monstrosa form too.

It flowers yellow.... If you put it in a larger pot (or in the ground), and place it outside, it can get as tall as maybe 5 feet or so....
