Andalucian specimen #11 "Eric Prickles"

Post by celtidiomas »

Hi Gurus, have been acquiring a few more since last autumn and this 45cm specimen takes pride of place. Looks as if it flowered within the last six months but sorry, no actual flowers to show. Can anyone help to ID, please?

Does anyone else name their cacti? We've also got Spiney Norman and Prickly Pete, maybe we're a bit soft in the head.

It's definitely a Mammillaria, but which one exactly - M. densispina, M, spinosissima or else is hard to say without flowers and fruits seen.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

I thought M. spinosissima but I'm not sure. Not very many will get that big.

Thanks to all, it has flowered for sure but quite when we'll see it bud again I've no idea. Meanwhile several others are budding up nidely so I'll [ost some picks when we have flowers as we're clueless about them too !
