Columnar

Post by nona »

This is from seed labelled Trichocereus Terscheckii. Comparing it with pics from
Google images I am beginning to wonder. It has a pup at the base (as have
others from the same batch). I have T.Spachianus but these look different.

I think Trichocereus terscheckii should branch at much bigger size and diameter, high above ground like saguaros. Your plant looks different, like T. candicans or Echinopsis huascha (Trichocereus grandiflorus) or something else, if "Trichocereus" at all.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

We won't know for sure without a flower, but I do suspect your plant could be Trichocereus camarguensis.

Camarguensis does look a possibility. Another plant from the batch has three pups at the base and that ruled out Terscheckii for me. It's disappointing to grow plants from seed only to find out 2-3 years later you were sold something else. At least nobody is telling me it's a Spachianus ... I have enough of those :)

Thanks very much for the suggestions.
