Photo taked in habitat from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Only when no one can tell me the ID is when I was interesting on this opuntia. I found them in the flat land close to the mountain, between one Larrea tridentata. It was in the the spring, for that reason the heavy purple color
Note: The cylindropuntia imbricata not live at this place

Could be an young plant of another Cylindropuntia sp.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.
