Two small ones for ID

Post by Tiggy »

Had these two for quite a while now but was waiting to see how they developed. I've had a few ideas from what I've seen on the forums, but would appreciate it if anyone can name them definitely (more definitely than me anyway). Thank you for any help even just the genere.

The first one is intriguing. It has all the Mammillaria traits, and yet...
The second one may be Thelocactus bicolor.

No idea. It may be a young Coryphantha, yes. It struck me first as a Parodia, and it may be it if what seems to be wool on the "axils" is just the remnants of the apical wool. The spines look too "adult" to be any Mammillaria I'm familiar with.

It struck me as coryphantha too. I am not sure because it looks like an extremely long spined mamm of some sort, but I don't know any that would fit.

Thank you for all of your suggestions, at least I have some ideas to work on. I've had these plants for 3yrs now and although they have developed they haven't grown a great deal. They have both been left out under shelter through the winter one or maybe two years, so they are pretty resistant. If this information may help in an identification I would be delighted to hear from you. In the meantime Thank you again for your time.
