Cutting Identification

Post by luckystrikesailor »

Hello all,

I am trying to identify this cutting.

Was thinking Trichocereus Peruvianus, but the more I search online, the more confused I become.

Also, how long can a cutting sit before being planted?

Thank you

Could well be T. peruvianus. Like people, they can vary a bit from individual to individual. Don't get hung up about minor differences in spine numbers and lengths.
A decent sized cutting should be happy for weeks or even months if it's not kept somewhere baking hot.
Let the cut end dry out for a couple of weeks before putting it on dry sand etc. It will generally make its own roots when it's ready. It may not do anything much until spring if you are in a cooler climate in the northern hemisphere, but this shouldn't be a problem,.
