Opuntia from Monument Valley

I photographed this cactus at Monument Valley in Arizona on 6/3/15. It's obviously an opuntia but I'd be interested in knowing precisely what species. This was the only one I saw at Monument Valley, although there appeared to me more along the roadside between Monument Valley and Kayenta.

Probably polyacantha.

Sorry I'm late to this. The plant is probably Opuntia nicholii rather than O. polyacantha.
