Cactus identification

Post by aurorap »

I purchased this little guy at a grocery store. Anyone know what type of cactus this is? Thank you in advance!

Thank you so much for helping me identify this little guy! I was wondering how and when this cactus blooms, and if I should be doing anything in particular to help it along?

Take a look here - http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/LOBIVI ... cantha.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some authorities say only the yellow/orange-flowered ones should be called arachnacantha. Anyway, if you can provide cool conditions during the winter dormant season it will bloom better. Flowers emerge from the areoles, look for any enlarged areoles - by this time of year you should see a bump forming on areoles that are trying to produce a flower this year.
