Hi, I just recently bought a mini cactus and would like to know what kind of cactus it is. Also any information on how to take care of it would be great

Notocactis rubibuenekeri - a form of N. scopa (or Parodia scopa)

Re: Help with identification please! :)
The offsets make me think this could be Parodia scopa (ssp. marchesii) as well.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

As to what soil to use, I'd suggest you take a look at the "Cultivation" forum - there are a few threads on the subject "pinned" at the top. The first one, "Garden centre plants in peat", is really an eye-opener. This article is also helpful - http://www.cactiguide.com/article/?article=article8.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
