I found this cacti at a garden centre; unfortunately they had stuck a cocktail stick into it and a deep wound was inflicted. It has partially healed. I am very curious to find out what cacti it is? I'm a total newbie but I'm fairly fascinated by cacti! Thanks!

Some Parodia / Notocactus. Don't know the specific species, though.

If the skin is as green as it looks in the picture, likely warasii. Parodia magnifica is more blue.

All "blue" cacti have a powdery bloom on the surface which produces a blue appearance, there's no blue pigment. It needs good light to develop, though - it could be either one depending on the growing conditions.

Yes they only get there bluish color on their skin when the light forms the powdery coating on the cactus skin
