Cactus ID, please

Post by EvaLynn »

While I try not to buy unidentified plants, I was at a garden center this weekend and I picked up this cactus because I liked it and it was only a few dollars. As you can see, it was planted in a pot intended for Opuntia Emerald Green, which even I know is wrong.

The plant is about 3 inches in diameter and not quite 2 inches tall. Given where I bought it, I can't imagine it's rare or unusual. Does anyone know what it is?

I'll second that. The angular tubercles are distinctive.
Cactus enthusiast on and off since boyhood. I have a modest collection of cacti & succulents.

Not with those tubercles I wouldn't think. Looks just like my M. mystax, though smaller.
